Sofia Furió is an artist from Argentina now living in the UK. Her art is crazy and unusual just as we like it. The artist herself likes to see the reaction of the people trough her image works. You need to see something different and not to be bored. Well, her art can give you that.
She has plenty of photographic series which we will show you but our favourite goes to the one called“Cocaine Doll” with a meaning behind that is nothing to encourage the drug itself but the opposite.
In Sofia’s meaning, the idea behind this series is to show the crudeness of growing. The last thing that goes through your mind when you see a child, is to think that he will be a drug addict. Childhood can be hard, you can start playing with dolls and then playing with drugs. Playing with dolls, playing with drugs that transform you into a doll. –
“My art is weird, I don’t like to fit into a style, I like to do a little of everything. I have a section of characters, each character has a way of thinking and being and all those characters live inside my mind. I also like to create art with harsh reality, drugs, sex, daily life. I like being my own model because I can be whoever I want in a photograph. They are not just photographs, it can be 3D art. It is only a matter of showing it in some gallery that accepts my type of art.”
Now let’s dig into some of Sofia’s other works and photography series.
